Thank you! Most of Tom's ideas come from everyday life. Since much of the layout depicts Lancaster County, he is constantly on the lookout for new ideas as he is driving to and from work. It's very rare that he has time to visit other layouts, although he has been to Northlandz in Flemington, NJ.
We'd love to take a trip to the Carnegie Science Center in Pittsburgh - that layout has a fair amount of custom-built, original animations that are similar to the work that Tom does.
We have seen the Miniatur Wunderland on YouTube and we are AMAZED! The airport itself is worth the trip!

Do you ever find inspiration for new exhibits from the "Model Railroad Layout Exhibits" Community around the country or around the globe?
I loved the Lancaster County AMISH BARN RAISING and TURKEY HILL displays (and the motorcycle gang going on a Sunday drive in the country). I have visited other great miniature worlds in Japan and Germany (and probably done on a budget hundreds of times that of Choo Choo Barn) ... would love to watch more model railroads in my travels if you know of any good links.
